A moving Maruti car was completely gutted in a massive fire this afternoon on a deserted stretch of road passing through the Krishnapur Sal forest in Bankura district. Fortunately, no one was injured as the driver managed to escape moments before the flames took over the vehicle.
The incident occurred on the Simlapal–Panchmura route, specifically in the Badageria area under the jurisdiction of Simlapal police station. According to locals, the car was traveling from Simlapal towards Panchmura when it suddenly caught fire in the middle of the forest.
Upon noticing smoke and flames, the alert driver quickly brought the car to a halt and jumped out of the vehicle, escaping just in time. Within seconds, the vehicle was engulfed in an intense blaze that drew the attention of nearby residents and forest goers.
Eyewitnesses stated that the fire was so intense that traffic along the road came to a standstill. The car was reduced to ashes within minutes, leaving nothing but its charred frame behind. No other vehicle or individual was harmed during the incident.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the car might have been operating on a cooking gas cylinder, rather than a conventional fuel system. It is suspected that the fire originated from a leak or malfunction in the gas cylinder setup, though officials are yet to confirm the exact cause.
